Α comprehensive geotechnical characterisation of overburden material from lignite mine excavations

چکیده

For the sustainability of lignite and coal mining, engineers need soils' appropriate geotechnical characterisation excavations. This relates to slope stability, overall area sustainable exploitation mining areas during operational post-closure eras. work presents a novel perspective on soil mine Rather than focusing one particular mine, comprehensive provides insights about soils related areas. Additionally, stability representative cases guide analysis rather following it. The Greek mines are used as example for illustration this framework. Initially, two typical scenarios established: in presence weak zone homogeneous slope. crucial parameters then statistically examined based an extensive database established from laboratory results various mines. Focus is shear strength (friction angle cohesion), key physical properties that can provide through empirical correlations. Many layers exhibit low residual friction 5° 15°, corresponding zone. Peak mean value 28.4°, characteristic 25.0°; cohesion wide range with 111 kPa 84 kPa. Finally, cross-correlations between present large scatter, but relations estimating peak reveal general trends.

Geotechnical Properties of Mine Fill

Mine fill is the material placed underground to fill the voids created by mining excavations. It provides overall large scale ground stabilization while allowing localized pillar recovery. In addition to providing a working floor or back, mine fill has the potential to reduce subsidence and minimize dilution. Mine fill is essential to cut and fill, benching and sublevel stoping mining methods. ...

Histopathology of Internal Organs of Fish Living in Lignite Mine

The acidity of mine water generally makes it toxic to most organisms. The gills, kidneys and livers of Anabas testudineus Bloch fish inhabiting the acidic water (pH 2-4) of an unused lignite mine in Li District, Lamphun Province, Thailand were examined and compared to those of farmed fish. Tissue abnormalities were found in all investigated organs. Deterioration and telangiectasia of gill filam...

System reliability-based geotechnical design of braced excavations in soft clays

This paper presents a preliminary study on the system reliability for the geotechnical design of braced excavations in soft clays. In this system reliability geotechnical analysis, both ultimate limit state (ULS) and serviceability limit state (SLS) are considered. Herein, the ULS failure refers to the basal heave failure, while the SLS failure refers to failures sue to excessive ground-surface...

Mine Classification based on a Multiview Characterisation

In the context of mine warfare, detected mines can be classified from their cast shadow. A standard solution is to perform image segmentation first, and then to extract a set of features from the shape allowing classification in a final step. In this paper, we extend this procedure to a sequence of images obtained along a part of a circular trajectory of the sonar. For a given ground mine excep...

Effect of Lime on the California Bearing Ratio Behaviour of Fly Ash - mine Overburden Mixes

Typically thermal power plants are located near to surface coal mines that produce huge amount of fly ash as a waste byproduct. Disposal of fly ash causes significant economic and environmental problems. Now-a-days, research is going on for bulk utilization of fly ash. In order to increase its percentage utilization, an investigation was carried out to evaluate its potential for haul road const...
